Charlie's Comments on the Grease Photo Shoot

Please enjoy browsing the images on the Web and take advantage of downloading or printing the fullsize images for your personal use. Many of the images were cropped which resulted in a variety of formats. Formats are generally native 35mm (1:1.5), 8x10, or custom (for the wide shots of the dance numbers). If you print photos, either by downloading and printing yourself or by ordering prints from the galleries I setup at Ofoto and Webshots, you'll find that many of the prints don't fit the standard photo frames. Sorry about that but the images required that kind of cropping.

Technical Details
As ususal, all photos were taken with a Canon 10D and a Canon 550EX flash. The majority of the shots were taken with the flash bounced off the high ceiling and a pop-up reflector on the flash body provided catchlights for the eyes. The ISO rating for all the shots was 400. All the photos were taken with a Sigma 17-30mm zoom. A Quantum Turbo Z external battery pack provided the power needed to bounce off the high ceiling and provide fast recycle times. This time around I captured all the images in "raw" format. As a result, the images were easier to manipulate but the workflow associated with adjusting the images was more complex and took more time.

The stage lighting was not as broad nor as bright as in previous shoots. This caused more missed shots and required more manipulation of levels in Photoshop. As before, all the shots were taken at a 400 ISO setting.
